Consider an Enterprise Wide Project Management Office
May 30, 2017 Applied Clinical Trials
On average, it takes at least 10 years for a new medicine to complete the journey from initial discovery to the marketplace, with clinical trials alone taking six to seven years on average. How do we, or should we increase scientific productivity? Pharma’s output level has remained more or less at a stable level for the past decade. And there is little reason to believe that this productivity will suddenly increase any time soon. Precision or personalized medicine, to get the right patient the right treatment at the right dose the first time, can potentially be addressed by technological advancements.

The myths of agile project management debunked
Apr 5, 2017 Medical Design
George Orwell once said: “Myths which are believed in tend to become true.” Of course, a story can become a myth or indeed the myth often becomes a good story. This particular story has its genesis in the mountains of Utah, in February 2001, when a gathering of some of the greatest modern minds emerged with a set of 12 revolutionary software development principles under a proclamation called the Agile Manifesto. These evangelists declared that requirements should evolve through collaborative efforts using self-organized cross-functional teams. They maintained that constant change, adaptive planning, faster delivery, continuous improvement and evolutionary development were all in fact practices to be embraced. To traditionalists, this sounded like organized anarchy, where control is handed from the executive team to what appears as a group of socially inept developers where general mayhem and chaos would prevail. The agile atheists were uncomfortable, and the war stories germinated. In this paper, we will look at some of these guiding principles – including what they mean for medical device development – and objectively look at debunking some of the myths that have flourished since the Agile Manifesto proclamation way back in 2001.
